Is there a way to get around this?

Select the controls to go in view one and choose Layout - Make subviews of > Custom View.

Do the same for the second view.

You will probably have to adjust the size of the new custom views and/ or the positioning of controls inside.

Then select both views and choose

Layout - Make subviews of > Split View

That should keep all connections and bindings intact.
