I can't say I've seen such behaviour in an app before. Interesting
that I've never noticed that at least most of the apps I have don't
support table editing cancellation via command-period.
Got any examples of apps that do it this way in addition to escape?

Be sure to also support Cmd-period. You might look at NSResponder's
cancelOperation: method.
