Checking for Spotlight

  • Subject: Checking for Spotlight

Hi!

Is there any API for checking if Spotlight is available and ready?

E.g. upon a fresh install, Spotlight takes quite some time to index the drive. The standard UI is not available during that time. How can other apps check for this situation?

Unless I am mistaken, Spotlight is not enabled on OS X Server. How can I tell from the API?

TIA for your help
Pierre
