Strange use of files in the Trash

  • Subject: Strange use of files in the Trash

Folks,
I'm using Xcode v. 2.4 on an Intel iMac. Recently, when having trouble building my project, I discovered that some of my active files resided in the Trash. I had been editing them and trying to Build but was getting lots of error messages, that I simply couldn't seem to understand or correct. Once I moved the files into the proper program folder, it all worked properly again.

My question is, why do files that are in the Trash appear to be otherwise normal in the Development System? Is this normal? Has this always been the case and I've just never noticed, or is it a bug in this version of Xcode?
How the files got into the Trash is another question. Previously Xcode had locked up on me and I had to Kill it and reopen it. I'm pretty sure that was the cause. But once they're there, Xcode shouldn't treat the Trash as just another operable folder. Should it?

    Thanks, Jim
