I interpreted this thread as a challenge to implement a sample because I have heard/read a lot of consternation on this topic recently.

I have placed a sample that displays editable text within an arbitrary convex bezier path at <http://www.cocoadev.com/index.pl?NSTextContainer>

I had never tried to do editable irregular text flows before, so this was an interesting challenge. I opened my browser to the relevant Apple documentation and 2.5 hours later I had the sample working. I will send an xCode project with the working sample to anyone who requests it in the next few days.
