CoreData bindings issues

Hi folks,

I am just getting into some CoreData for the first
time. I have read the docs and
followed the tutorials but I just don't seem to get
the same behaviour. I have the typical
master-detail look, with two NSTableViews, with
bindings arranged just as in the tutorials.
I can create entries in the master table OK, and also
create entries in the Detail table
but the list of details never seems to correspond to
the selection in the Master table.

I have tried looking at the CoreRecipesApp example but
it seems to be completely broken
(I am running Tiger 10.4.8 with XCode 2.4.1). The
first time I run the example app I can
try to add a smart folder but the second field (combo
box) doesn't have any choices in it.
When I quit it I get "Multiple Validation failures"
and then if I relaunch the app the add/remove
buttons don't even appear. I have tried deleting the
Application Support\Core Recipes folder
and it doesn't fix it.

Has anyone managed to get this working on a recent
system? I am pretty shocked and disappointed
that Apple is shipping a broken example which is
supposed to be teaching some of its core
technologies to new developers.

Thanks for any help,

Charles.
