Huh? The NSButtonCell is exactly what draws everything. Try this:

In a new Cocoa nib in IB, drag a switch. At this point, if you view the object hierarchy, you'll see NSButton. Now option-drag to create a matrix. You'll then have an NSMatrix containing NSButtonCell instances.
