Cocoa Framework for accessing images on USB digital camera

  • Subject: Cocoa Framework for accessing images on USB digital camera

Is there a framework for accessing images on a digital camera attached via USB? I've noticed that on some cameras, I can plug it in and both iPhoto or Adobe Lightroom will ask me to import images. However, the camera itself doesn't mount as a volume. How does iPhoto or Lightroom achieve this?

Thanks!

Mike
