Yes.
Have you checked for typos in the names of those methods? (Sounds stupid, but this kind of thing is a very common error in Objective-C.)

GAH! I *am* stupid! Yes, I had typed accceptsFirstResponder... I just assumed that the compiler would complain about undeclared methods, so I didn't even consider misspelling as a problem source. OK, now I know one thing more to look out for... :-/
