You're right, MusicKit and SndKit are pretty much the canonical examples of
Objective-C audio processing and they do manage very good performance. I
just wanted to point out that I wasn't doing all sorts of Obj-C
message-sending in the middle of a DSP operation.

In any case, MusicKit and SndKit are definitely geared toward synthesis and
instrument design. The code I've been putting together is non-real-time and
focuses on analysis.
