We use applicationWillFinishLaunching:, that comes before any
openFile: and, quite obviously, before applicationDidFinishLaunching:,
but later than the awakeFromNib calls from the various pieces: it
works fine for us, as at that point most of the app is set up and
ready to go.
It's obviously trivial to instruct the app to quit if license is not
accepted (or trial time is expired).
