Hi Jordan,
what do you mean by metadata? what are you items?
Metadata is 'Data about data', see it like supplementary information.
So now i suppose you're talking about files metadata, the one used
by spotlight.
You may search, in Xcode Documentation, for 'spotlight', and found
several articles that might be of interest to you.
Among them, i think the one titled 'Spotlight Query Programming
Guide' is what you're looking for.
