HUD text edit app?

Has anyone thought of or seen a HUD textedit like app useing some sort of HUD ?
I found the new kitt the the shiira project has created
http://shiira.jp/hmblkappkit/en.html

And I always kinda wanted to make just use one as a simple bare bones
text viewing editing app with a default font and size like you see in
quicksilvers view text option.

Sounds like a project I should try and did try but got stumpped awhile ago.
