I apologize for the fact that my question has caused a barrage of
replies, even after it has been answered. If people want to continue
replying to it, that's fine by me, but I would like to ask people to
read previous replies and also not to quote me out of context
because, for example, I never actually said, nor implied, that id is
a class. On the contrary, I explicitly said that I know it isn't.
Thank you.
Wagner
You can instantiate a root class.
You cannot instantiate id.
Since id is not a class, it cannot be a root class.

I apologize for belaboring the point. It's just that I still don't
see a difference between id and a root class.
