Try this:

 http://www.borkware.com/quickies/one?topic=Random

run disk copy, make a new blank image.
copy image file to the mounted drive (logo.jpg)
open the image, choose Show View Options.
Choose "picture", select the logo.jpg that's on the dmg
resize your window as appropriate
run this in the terminal to hide the logo.jpg file
/Developer/Tools/SetFile -a V /Volumes/YourDMG/logo.jpg
eject the dmg and re-mount it
you should now see your image, and no visible picture file icon

Subject: making an installation dmg

Hi,

I have seen several dmg(like the one from Skype) which
has some graphic displays when mounted, usually has an
application folder, read me icon, and an arrow or
something similar to guide user in drag drop the
program into application folder, any hints, tools to
do this ?

Thanks,
