Reliability of distributed notifications

  • Subject: Reliability of distributed notifications

The documentation for NSDistributedNotificationCenter states the following:

"The latency between posting the notification and the notification’s arrival in another task is unbounded. In fact, when too many notifications are posted and the server’s queue fills up, notifications may be dropped."

Could anybody offer any insight into how likely this is to happen in practice? From my personal experience the delivery of distributed notifications seems entirely reliable, but this statement makes me think that I should be coding very defensively anyway.
