Creating a custom subclass of NSController

  • Subject: Creating a custom subclass of NSController

Hi all.

I've been trying to create a custom subclass of NSController, somewhat an equivalent of NSUserDefaultsController.

The problem is that I can't instantiate the class in Interface Builder. There is some documentation in the IB FAQ that suggests that you can create a subclass in the "Classes" view in IB, but this doesn't work. Reading the files in IB also doesn't work.

Are there some special methods the class needs to implement to be instantiated from IB? I came across a reference to initWithCoder:, but it doesn't seem to do the trick.

Or, am I going about this the wrong way, and should I just subclass NSObjectController?

Thanks,
Graham Davison
