No, I hadn't considered that.  After reading the introduction, indeed the
"modal session" looks like what I want.  I'll reply back if it's not.

Hey, any day I avoid multithreading is a good day.  But if anyone knows a
quick answer to why I got a white rectangle instead of a dialog, that would
be handy to know too.
