The fifth Ironcoder Mac OSX coding contest kicks off at 5PM CST on Friday March 30th and ends at 5PM CST on Sunday April 1st. For those new to Ironcoder, it is a 48 hour coding contest, with contestants writing software around a judge picked theme and Mac OS X API. Previous theme and API combinations in the past have included: "Space" & CoreImage, "Time" & Quartz and "Mardi Gras" & Universal Access.
The winner of Ironcoder acts as the judge of the next contest, picking the date, theme and API and also judging the entries.

A variety of software and hardware prizes have been donated by sponsoring companies and individuals. We generally have enough prizes to make sure the winner and all runners up get prizes (best entries get first pick at the prizes of course). If you want to see the list of prizes and sponsors for this Ironcoder or if you're willing to donate something as a prize visit: http://ironcoder.org/blog/sponsors/

Ironcoder was an idea hatched on the #macsb irc channel (irc.freenode.net) which is itself a spin off of the Mac Software Business mailing list (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/macsb/). Live Ironcoder commentary and developer support will be available on that irc channel during the competition.

We hope to make this Ironcoder the biggest and best yet and welcome new faces to the competition.
