Standby: Handling going into and coming out from standby

Can someone point me to the right documentation? I've not been able to find anything at all on this. I want my application to be able to detect when the computer is about to go into standby and also to detect when the computer has just come out of standby.

I believe applications like iChat are standby aware in that it closes the network connection before the computer goes into standby and also re-establishes the connection when the computer comes out of standby. _______________________________________________
