Interface Builder, custom palettes, old nib files, and problems

  • Subject: Interface Builder, custom palettes, old nib files, and problems

I've inherited some code that's giving me a headache. What happens is that when I try to play with the nib files, SOME of the items will not show up in Interface Builder's Inspector window. Indeed, if I've selected one of these items and hit command-1, the inspector window doesn't even open.

The two weirdnesses are that the nib files are stored in older ("pre 10.2") format (although when I Save As with a more modern nib format the problems persist). And the nib file uses a custom palette, which seems suspicious to me since all the controls from the custom palette fail to show an inspector window. But there are plenty of vanilla Cocoa controls that also exhibit the same problem.

I wonder if this rings any bells for anyone? If you've got some suggestions for more research I'd love to hear 'em. My google-fu is apparently on the fritz today 'cause I haven't managed to find anything useful online.

Thanks.
