Martin,

Thanks very much for the feedback. This would agree with my thoughts if there were "Desktop DB" and "Desktop DF" files in the Red Book audio session, which I'm not sure there are. Also, if those same two files are in the Yellow Book data session, it should fail there too, but it doesn't - I never get the error while copying that session. I think it does have something to do with having the same files in the destination directory during the copy, because it seems to fail only when I don't allow the file deletion code (after the burn) to be executed while debugging. But why just audio files? I have not had time to correlate all of this yet but that's where I am so far. I do have the kFSFileOperationOverwrite option set. Strange.

Thanks again and best regards,

Ron

I've leveraged the Cocoa FSFileOperation example to copy files/ directories from a two-session (audio and data) CD for eventual burning back to make a duplicate copy.
Everything works fine most of the time but occasionally I get a -8081 error in the FSPathFileOperationStatusProcPtr callback routine. It only occurs when the Red Book audio session is read (never the data session), stages 1 and 2 are skipped and the first callback is a stage 3 status with the -8081 error. A reboot will fix the problem for a while. The system logs give no indication of what is going on and I cannot for the life of me find out what a -8081 error actually is (it's not in MacErrors.h).

Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Ron

Hi Ron,

today I ran into a similar issue and it seems that you are trying to replace one of the "Desktop DB" or "Desktop DF" files which get created when copying files with the Finder to disk images or other volumes.

Hope this helps,

Martin
