Remove a white halo around edited NSTextFieldCell

Hey List

I'm trying to remove this white rect around the field editor

My tests indicate that it's not the NSTextView nor its superview (_NSKeyboardFocusClipView) that draws it, but the cell itself (?!)

I have tried so many things, too many to list here, but to no avail. I have tried fiddling with the frame of the text editor, setting no focus ring type on the cell, setting no bezel, no border.

Can anyone help?
