You might want to check out Andy Satori's open source Obj-C framework for ODBC:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/odbckit

ODBCKit has some nice features, such as returning a record as an NSDictionary. The download also includes an example application, which might be useful to look at regardless of the approach you ultimately take.
