can ABPeoplePicker look disabled

If the ABPeoplePicker is used in the InterfaceBuilder is it possible to give it a disabled (non-enabled) look? I'd like to be able to change it's enabled state but it seems to not be possible without duplicating it all with the standard controls and coding all the back end stuff that it does so well.
