IIRC Apple stopped that when they retired ADB, i.e. around the time they retired the beige boxes. And since Laptops (which still used ADB a tad longer) don't have these keys, I doubt anyone targeting OS X can use that. But we're getting off-topic, so I'll take more musings on this off-list :-)
