I don't think anyone actually answered this question for you. Basically no, your bundle identifier is a URI.

And to complete the answer, UTI are here to «replace» Type code, not Creator code.

The type code, is a field of the UTI declaration, that contains all you need to know about a file type. (http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Carbon/Conceptual/understanding_utis/understand_utis_intro/chapter_1_section_1.html )
