This is very cool and I would have used it if I had known about it earlier, but it isn't a replacement for NSToolbar so much as a simpler way to create one (which is awesome and should have been there all along).

Is this what you're looking for? IB3 seems to have it natively, and this does it for IB2: http://belkadan.com/generictoolbar/
