There's no built-in support for icons. You'd have to subclass NSTabViewItem and then override a few methods:
- (void)drawLabel:(BOOL)shouldTruncateLabel inRect:(NSRect)labelRect;
- (NSSize)sizeOfLabel:(BOOL)computeMin;


And of course you have to instantiate your own tab view items and insert them into the tabview.
