Is there any performance penalty for using the 64 bit runtime? In general what are the disadvantages of disabling 32 bit compatibility other than the obvious fact that my program wouldn't run on 32 bit machines?

The 32-bit frameworks and libraries are around a decade old; the 64- bit frameworks and libraries are essentially at version 1.0 and are nowhere near as mature. As a result, they have some interesting bugs that don't exist in the 32-bit frameworks. I've filed them as I've found them...
