This question is coming up amazingly often. I've only been on this list for a week or so, but it's been asked three or four times already. (And back in the day, it took me a while to find out the NSTabView trick, too, so I sympathize with the people asking it.)

Perhaps the introductory AppKit documentation should include a discussion of this particular topic.

Also, is anyone maintaining an FAQ for this list?
