I enabled layers so I could cause some buttons to fade in and out of
visibility, and noticed this problem with NSTableView and to some
extent the NSOutlineView.  With some experimentation, if I made sure
layer backing was turned on for everything I saw far less of this
problem.

At this point, the only weirdness I still see is with NSOutlineView
redrawing when individual nodes are updated.
