afferentless mac mini

I have a "Network Receiver" application which is in my "login items" section of an Apple Intel mac mini
computer running the latest version of Leopard. I do not need a keyboard, nor a mouse directly wired to this computer(or indirectly thru wifi:-)), as these afferent branches are obviously to be supplied over a network. This doesn't work 'out of the box', as some part of Leopard demands a keyboard before my 'login items' are launched. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
thanks,
em
