That's a tip-off that the array pointer is nil, by the way — - objectAtIndex: *never* returns nil, because it's not legal to store nil values in an NSArray. (Same goes for objectForKey: in NSDictionary.)

-[NSDictionary objectForKey:] returns nil if the specified key does not have an associated value in the dictionary.
