Because the Font Window is used all over the place, not just in IB.

But yes, the Font Window is actually a little broken in respect to this anyway - while it can now target any object it wasn't modified to actually send the -changeAttributes: message to the target, only - changeFont: I hope they fix that soon because it's a real nuisance and hard to work around. (radar 6221698)
