Nick,
Our real-time video mixing applications load hundreds of movie
files, in order to get very responsive when a movie is triggered.
The problem is, using today's high resolution movies, the process's
memory quickly reaches the maximum allowed for a 32bits process, so we'd
like to be able to dynamically load/unload unused visuals when the
process's used memory reaches a certain amount.

Are there functions in Cocoa APIs which would give me how much memory
my program's using? (at least "virtual memory" as listed in Activity

What exactly are you trying to accomplish that requires you to do this?
