Thanks Michael,

As I suspected, IB baffled me into doing something fairly stupid... or at least absent minded. I just forgot to make a connection...
I started programming in MaxMSP, so it's not like I'm unaccustomed to making connections with little cables! But I think my frustration with IB sometimes is that the connections are only temporarily graphical - I honestly don't think the interface is really all that clear. If it were something more like a real patching network, or some sort of object graph, it would be much clearer. But that's just my opinion...

Anyway, problem solved.

cheers,

J.

But I've got an even more mysterious problem now... My preferences window (the window I was working on) will only open once!... I'm totally baffled. I can open it once per run of the app, but if I close it, then it's gone for good. Totally frustrating...
I have to admit that I kind of dread opening Interface Builder. I enjoy graphically creating interfaces with it, but I find the "connections" to my code totally confusing. If you have any ideas (or if anyone else has) as to why my preferences window appears only once please give me a heads-up. I'm in absolute disbelief! :-|

Select your preferences window in Interface Builder and make sure "Release when closed" is unchecked.
