Does NSTextField sends delegate messages to itself?

Greetings,

I've subclassed NSTextField so that I can override - acceptsFirstResponder to return NO. I've noticed an unexpected behaviour which I hope is the right thing because now I want to rely on it. To wit: without explicitly setting the text field's delegate, I can receive delegate methods such as -textDidEndEditing:.

So my question is, I suppose, does NSTextField send delegate messages to instances of itself?
