At runtime if I have access to an instance of NSTextView how can I address the NSTextField?
I know I should know this but I having a 'moment'...

Your question doesn't make sense. You posted the inheritance diagrams of two different classes, and they're obviously disjoint. An NSTextView is not an NSTextField. It doesn't have one either.
