I almost don't dare to compare, but it's a lot more difficult than in REALBasic to declare a global color. But on the other side... who cares?

I doubt that REALBasic's colours are objects. The advantage of a colour object is that it encapsulates the colour space and calibration, which for print professionals is an enormous advantage that easily outweighs any slight difficulty of use. Personally, I find NSColors extremely easy to use once you're used to them - and for your case of defining a bunch of colour constants, once you've done it it's done. It's not like you'll have to reinvent this code every time.
