Oxalyn Software > Æ Monitor

recently our app has stopped responding to "odoc" apple events on startup.
that is, if the user double clicks a document of our app, and this causes the
app to launch, then the document is not opened. (cnr when app is already
launched). same story dropping the doc icon onto the app icon (same code path).

Apparently this problem is widespread, as reported in this Macfixit article:

http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-10401605-263.html

this is not the issue i'm having. double clicking the document always launches my application. so it is "bound" correctly. the problem is that on startup my app is not receiving the "odoc" apple event, or it is being eaten at an inopportune time. if the app is already running, then i do receive the event and the document opens.

Are you certain that odoc events are even being sent?
no i am not

It's pretty easy to find out using Apple event debugging.
and how do you do that?

i have run with AEDebug / Send / Receives set to 1 and i see the log of the events. but i can only do that when launching from the command line (no double click) or from Xcode (again no double click) so there is no way to test my problem with these debug vars set._______________________________________________
