supress calling objectValueForTableColumn

I programatically add the enclosing scroll view of a table view to a scroll view that is the upper portion of a vertical split view.

I would like to supress the calling of objectValueForTableColumn whne resizing the split view so it functions smoothly.

Is this possible?
