That's part of NSManagedObjectContext's implementation of
NSEditorRegistration. NSEditorRegistration defines a well-known
protocol for UI elements to inform controllers that they are editing
values controlled by those controllers.

Thanks, Kyle. I just filed a bug on the use of the undefined term in
the documentation, 7051543.
I solved the problem I was looking for by using -[NSValue
valueWithPointer:] instead of -[NSManagedObject objectID] as keys to
objects in a temporary dictionary. I don't have to worry about them
changing from temporary to permanent when a fetch is done, and they
take up alot less space in my console log too :)
