In either case, the hard work is in setting up the connection, which you have to do, and there's no support for arbitrary data.

Absolutely, this isn't the free and easy data channel the original poster wanted, finding the other device and sending that first connection request on behalf of the voice service is the hard piece. _______________________________________________
