One thing you could do is add a new hard drive to your configuration, partition that hard drive into a number of volumes (onto which you can install different versions of MacOS), and then you can do your testing on those partitions without having to worry about spoiling your development hard drive.

And once you're done testing, you can wipe the partition and reinstall a new copy of the OS again.
