is it possible to do document specific (ie, use a document dictionary) "as-you-type" spell checking? ie, using NSTextFields and NSTextFieldCells, is it somehow possible to specify the spell document tag to be used by the field editor?

If you provide a custom field editor, you can override - spellCheckerDocumentTag.
