He is talking about UIKit (iPhone) which has things like the following...
-[<UIApplicationDelegate> applicationDidReceiveMemoryWarning:]
-[UIViewController didReceiveMemoryWarning]
...and...
UIApplicationDidReceiveMemoryWarningNotification
...but provides no information beyond the notification.
