There's a risk to that solution, though. A longstanding bug
(2489632) in FSPathMakeRef (and thus with a few other routines that
apparently use it) whereby symlinks are silently resolved. Depending
on your needs, that may be a show-stopper.
Does FSPathMakeRefWithOptions with
kFSPathMakeRefDoNotFollowLeafSymlink take care of that?
