I don't have an answer for your question, but the best way to get
some kind of action is to file a bug report against the API at:
http://bugreport.apple.com
... and against the documentation by using the form at the bottom of
the corresponding page. Approaching it from both sides will make the
issue more visible and probably result in faster correction of the
documentation or adjustment of the API.
