Extract plain text content from a Text View

Hi all,

Is there a way to get the plain text content out of an NSTextStorage object (displaying using a Text View) that contains rich text and images? I want to figure out a way to build a search predicate that will allow me to search a Text View and I think this is likely to be the only way.
